Tire irons are pretty simplistic, our baseball mitt is still just leather and laces, and as long as our gas can doesn’t leak all over the back of the truck or our foot, we never think about it. The trouble is, it does nearly every time. Still, there didn’t seem to be a lot one could do to improve on a plastic jug with a hose on the top. That is until the SURECAN people took on the problem and came up with a much better solution. If you’re going to carry a volatile fuel source, your container had better be up to the task. The SureCan containers are designed to carry and dispense fuel easily and safely thanks to the following details:

CONSTRUCTION DETAILS

Child Proof Caps on fill spout and main fill cap Safety thumb trigger to open vent and start / stop flow Swivel mechanism has two Viton O-rings for leak prevention Nozzle rotates to meet opening rather than tipping jug to empty 6 Layer High Density Polyethylene plastic (HDPE) for rugged durability and elimination of permeation of vapors through container wall. All interior parts are stainless steel or aluminum for corrosion protection One year manufacturer warranty

FIELD TEST

SureCan makes their containers in three different versions at the moment: a 2.2 gallon jug for gasoline, a 5 gallon gasoline jug, and a 5 gallon jug for Diesel fuel in yellow. We opted for the 5 gallon gasoline version.vendor.2016.sure-can.fuel-container.filling-sxs.jpgEmptying the SureCan into your vehicle is safe, drip free, and easy thanks to the swivel spout, a comfy handle, and the vent thumb button. It works gre

at! When our SureCan jug arrived, we were very pleased to see the quality of its construction. Nothing seemed flimsy or cheap, and we liked how the thumb button return
ed to a fail-safe closed position to prevent the SureCan from leaking fuel, even if it tipped over when in the back of our truck. We shouldn’t be surprised. On their web site, the SureCan people even show their product dragging behind trucks, being driven over by pickups, being dropped off a building, and one rolling down a 100’ cliff and when it finally stops bouncing, the liquid is still safely stored inside. Hopefully, ours will never encounter any abuse as severe as that! When it came time to take the SureCan on our first adventure, we really appreciated the thought that went into its design and testing. The top handle is comfortable and roomy enough for our hand even when wearing a heavy glove, the thumb button is easy to use, and the pivoting fill spout eliminates slopping fuel over the side of our vehicle, boots, and ground. We really like how instead of tipping the jug to empty it – often in an awkward position to hold – you simply swivel the fill spout into position, then press the thumb button to start the
flow. It works great! Total time to empty it was about the same as a normal jug, but it was a whole lot easier and safer. It’s not a race jug, but for every other situation, it’s much better. It’s also made in the USA! SURECAN DO! Until somebody invents a reliable electric fuel cell with much longer range, fueling up before every ride is going to be part of the adventure. Our mismatched five gallon jug collection always had us playing a game of transfer the best spout to the full can every time we needed to add fuel, but thankfully, those days have passed. The SureCan is a much more reliable and much safer alternative. We give it an easy two thumbs up!

WE HAVE THEM IN STOCK

WE NOW HAVE INSTAGRAM...

We are very excited to have instagram please follow us @https://www.instagram.com/dickson_sales_team/?hl=en.

We are very excited to have instagram please follow us @https://www.instagram.com/dickson_sales_team/?hl=en.

Winter storm is coming!

News - Major winter storm threatens southern Ontario, up to 35 cm - The Weather NetworkMonday, March 13, 2017, 1:07 PM - The snowflakes are already flying in southern Ontario as two powerful low pressure systems are set to collide over the U.S. Eastern Seaboard Monday night, and that spells a lot of active weather on the way. With the start of spring only a week away, Ontarians from Windsor to Ottawa will be dealing with intense wintry conditions, a widespread snowfall of 15 to 20 cm - more for

News - Major winter storm threatens southern Ontario, up to 35 cm - The Weather Network

Monday, March 13, 2017, 1:07 PM - The snowflakes are already flying in southern Ontario as two powerful low pressure systems are set to collide over the U.S. Eastern Seaboard Monday night, and that spells a lot of active weather on the way.

With the start of spring only a week away, Ontarians from Windsor to Ottawa will be dealing with intense wintry conditions, a widespread snowfall of 15 to 20 cm - more for some - whiteouts, and treacherous driving conditions late Monday through Tuesday.

Environment Canada has issued winter storm warnings for the Niagara region, around the Golden Horseshoe as far as Oakville, and along the north shore of Lake Erie as far as Long Point and Simcoe, where conditions are expected to be worst. Mounting a separate trash container on your Exmark mower allows you to use any grabber you like to grab drink cans, receipts, and other bits of debris on the go instead of before you climb on the mower.

UltraVac Bagger Collection System

Some clients just aren’t happy with grass clippings and leaf mulch, no matter how many times you explain the benefits of letting these materials break down naturally. When you’re working for a client who demands an entirely spotless stretch of turf, rely on the strength of the UltraVac bagger system. The powerful vacuum catches even the smallest scraps of chopped up debris, resulting in a well-kept lawn with no need to rake or vacuum later.

Turf Striper Kit

It only takes an affordable turf striper kit from Exmark to start landing those lucrative sports field and decorative mowing contracts. While striped turf may have originated with baseball fields, now it’s the most highly demanded form of patterned mowing. This kit takes the hard work out of laying out a striping pattern because the kit creates the cross-cutting pattern for you. Mow and lay stripes in a single step to get these jobs done in half the time with the same crisp and highly visible results.

12-Volt Adapter

Finally, don’t forget about a source of power you can carry along to the most remote areas of a job site. Landscapers often discover small problems that are most easily solved with electric hedge clippers, leaf blowers, or other lightweight tools. Installing a 12-volt adapter on your Exmark mower turns it into a traveling power source.

Now is the perfect time to invest in an Exmark mower and all of the compatible accessories. After winning Employer of the Year award during the Burlington Chamber of Commerce’s Business Excellence Awards and the Outstanding Business Award at the Flamborough Chamber of Commerce OBA Gala, the team of 120 are riding high.

“At the end of the day, how do we view our employees…they’re assets not liabilities in that, we have to focus on our staff because they in turn will take care of our clients,” said Nathan Helder, company president.

He explained that even though his company is in the landscaping industry, he doesn’t like to think as a landscaper.

“My biggest competitor is other industries, because people leave the landscaping industry and go into something else,” he said.

During the OBA Gala on April 1, which recognizes and celebrates the best in “corporate excellence and community service,” the Waterdown-based company not only won an OBA but also took home the Gold Judges Choice and Silver People’s Choice awards which they won for the 2015 Waterdown Blooms display.

“If you take care of the staff, they will go to bat, they will actually propel much farther than any owner can intend,” he said, noting that it was this company vision that led to the awards.

Since taking over Gelderman 10 years ago, the business has grown to the point where the staff is pushing Helder to work harder.

“ I don’t see the growth stopping…it’s great, it’s excellent to be in this position where they act like owners now themselves,” he said.

The company, which also now serves Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph, Cambridge, Oakville, Burlington and areas, started out humbly. According to the Gelderman website, in 1955, a Dutch immigrant with $7 worth of tools and an old Jeep began a business doing landscaping. Jan Gelderman’s vision grew into a company that not only does the original owner’s trade but has also expanded to include maintenance and the condominium market.

Helder said he’s proud of the company that he has been a part of. Gelderman now has four branches and they hope to continue their outreach. “When we do it right every day and try to do it better for the (next) day, good things happen, you actually do get better. Our goal at the end of the day is to be more grass roots to our clients,” he said. We know what’s in our wheelhouse, what do we specialize in, we know exactly what that is,” he added.

Due to the expansion, Helder said it has allowed employees to grow and that in turn has helped the company and because since the team works as a family, he explained that is the reason for why they have succeeded.

“To me that’s really rewarding when I see growth and development in people,” said the president, noting that a few team members who began as crew developed into branch managers within a period of five to 10 years.

The company also works on strategy sessions twice a year to discuss how to tackle upcoming tasks and work on the collective vision along with making sure everyone has a say in where Gelderman is heading. “Once you have clarity and vision, people want to work for those kind of companies.”

For now, however, he’s looking forward to the next thing. Now that they have received the accolades, it is going to make them work even harder.

“It’s a feather in our cap, we just have to learn to be less Canadian, we need to be more U.S. about this and brag about it. Canadians don’t brag so well,” Helder joked.

(NEWS SOURCE FLAMBOROUGH REVIEW)

Why won't my small power equipment start?

Separation of the water and the fuel."But we just had our carburetor cleaned last year? Why do we need to do it again this year?"

This is one of the most common questions we hear in our repair shop. And it's one of the biggest frustrations from our customers. We recognize this frustration and hope to help others understand the problem better. In this post we hope to shed the light on the issue. The problem is caused by the ethanol that is found in most fuels today, which causes something called Phase Separation. Whether you use gasoline as a fleet operator or for your family car, classic car, boat, personal water-craft, motorcycle, snowmobile, ATV, RV, lawnmower, weed-whacker, generator, or any of the thousands of other types of equipment that use gasoline engines; you are being affected by Ethanol in your fuel.

Separation of the water and the fuel.

Phase Separation describes what happens to gasoline containing Ethanol when water is present. When gasoline containing even small amounts of Ethanol comes in contact with water, either liquid or in the form of humidity; the Ethanol and water will Phase Separate, actually coming out of solution and forming two or three distinct layers in the tank. Phase Separation is also temperature dependent. For example, E-10 can hold approximately .05% water at 60°F. To better understand the amount of water that we are talking about, picture 1 gallon of E-10 at 60°F. This gallon will hold approximately 3.8 teaspoons of water. However if the temperature drops to 20°F it can only hold about 2.8 teaspoons of water. Phase Separation can happen in an underground or an above ground storage tank, a vehicle tank, a boat tank, in any type of equipment tank, and even in the gas can in your garage. When this happens, you can have serious and even catastrophic engine problems, without warning. When this Phase Separation occurs you will have an upper layer of gasoline with a milky layer of Ethanol and Water below it, and then in many cases a third layer of just water at the bottom. If this happens and you try to start the engine you can have one or more of the following problems. If your fuel tank pick-up tube is in the water layer, most likely the engine will fail to start. If the engine is running and suddenly draws water you can have damage from thermal shock or hydro-lock. If the pick-up tube draws the Ethanol-Water mixture or just Ethanol you can have problems where the engine will operate in an extreme lean condition, which can cause significant damage or even catastrophic failure. If the pick-up tube draws the gasoline, it will operate very poorly due to lower octane that is the result of no longer having Ethanol in the fuel. Gasoline containing Ethanol provides further challenges and dangers for marine operators (Boaters) and other users of seasonal equipment such as motorcycles, personal water-craft, snowmobiles, ATV's, RV's, yard maintenance, generators, and other equipment. Ethanol is a strong, aggressive solvent and will cause problems with rubber hoses, o-rings, seals, and gaskets. These problems are worse during extended storage when significant deterioration will take place. Hoses will delaminate, o-rings will soften and break down, and fuel system components made from certain types of plastics will either soften or become hard and brittle, eventually failing. Fuel system components made from brass, copper, aluminum will oxidize to the point of failure. Two-Cycle engines have a special problem with Ethanol blended fuels. Two-Cycle engines function because the oil added to the fuel bonds to the engines metal surfaces and provides barrier lubrication to all the parts requiring lubrication. When Ethanol is added to the gasoline, it displaces the oil and forms a primary bond with the metal surfaces. This bond provides virtually no lubrication and can result in significantly increased wear and even catastrophic failure in a very short amount of time. Ethanol has less energy (as measured in Btu's - British Thermal Units) per gallon than does regular unleaded gasoline. This means that the more Ethanol found in fuel the worse your fuel economy will be. You use more gallons of fuel containing Ethanol to go fewer miles. This poor fuel economy is made worse by other EPA and State requirements for fuels to change seasonally. Until very recently we have used what is known as "Conventional" gasoline (CVG) in the winter and "Reformulated" gasoline (RFG) in the summer. The theory is that the lower volatility of RFG will reduce the formation of green house gases. However RFG has lower Btu's per gallon. RFG together with Ethanol results in significant mileage penalty. My own vehicle drops about 2 miles per gallon or about 9% when using RFG with Ethanol. For many years the refining industry used a chemical MTBE to meet the oxygenate requirements set forth by the EPA. Generally refiners used 15% MTBE and 85% gasoline. However MTBE has now been virtually eliminated in the US due to its carcinogenic compounds and the huge potential problems caused by its pollution of as much as 75% of the ground water in the US and Canada. This has left Ethanol as the primary additive to meet Federal and State oxygenate mandates. Further the federal government currently subsidizes Ethanol with a $.51 per gallon tax credit that goes to refiners or blenders. With E-10 this provides those refiners and or blenders with a $.51 per gallon subsidy on every gallon of gasoline that they sell.

A new carburetor and one showing the gum and varnish built up because of the ethanol.

One more concern with Ethanol and RFG or Ethanol and CVG is that Ethanol when mixed with water; they readily form Gums in the fuel system much quicker that gasoline without Ethanol. These Gums coat fuel system components including filters, carburetors, injectors, throttle plates; and will then form varnish and carbon deposits in the intake, on valves, and in the combustion chamber. These deposits can coat sensors and plug catalytic converters. The good news is that we now have products available to prevent and control Phase Separation and that we can dramatically reduce or eliminate most of the problems caused by the Ethanol in the gasoline.

Ask about

For seasonal vehicles and equipment, e.g. boats, personal water-craft, motorcycles, classic cars, ATV's, RV's, lawn and garden equipment, gasoline powered generators, and so on, we recommend that you try to use conventional gasoline without Ethanol whenever possible and particularly prior to storage. In ALL Two-Cycle gasoline engines where there is any possibility that you are using gasoline containing Ethanol we strongly suggest using a full synthetic two-cycle oil in the gas.

SnowEx ScrapeMax

Five year Lazer Z warranty

Another reason why Exmark mowers out sell any other mowers 2-1.We have you covered. We take great pride in the quality of our products and stand behind every single one.
